The Major section is now an all-play-all

Entries are now closed for The County Championships 2015, full details can be found here.

The time control for all events will be 80 minutes for the whole game plus a 10 second per move increment throughout.

The 2015 County Individual Tournaments will take place at Wigston Chess Club. There are 4 sections:

* The Championship. This will be 6 rounds, open to all and FIDE rated

* The Challengers. This will be 5 rounds, open to players graded below 160

* The Major. This will be 5 rounds and is open to players graded below 140

* The Minor. This will be 5 rounds and is open to players graded below 120

The grades used are the JANUARY 2015 ECF grades, not the ones quoted in the 2014/15 LRCA League Handbook.

The Championship dates are:

1. Round 1 30th April 2015

2. Round 2 21st May 2015

3. Round 3 18th June 2015

4. Round 4 16th July 2015

5. Round 5 13th August 2015

6. Round 6 3rd September 2015 (NB 3 weeks after round 5)

The Major dates are:

1. Round 1 21st May 2015

2. Round 2 18th June 2015

3. Round 3 16th July 2015

4. Round 4 13th August 2015

5. Round 5 3rd September 2015 (NB 3 weeks after round 4)

The Challengers and Minor dates are:

1. Round 1 14th May 2015

2. Round 2 4th June 2015

3. Round 3 2nd July 2015

4. Round 4 30th July 2015

5. Round 5 27th August 2015

It is expected that all games will be played on the scheduled dates. This will enable the draw for the next round to be made promptly. Recognising that the tournament is played during the holiday season, there will inevitably be some dates which players cannot make, in which case every effort should be made to play the match BEFORE the scheduled date.
