Following a meeting of clubs held on 15th August 2007, it was agreed to form a new league in Leicestershire called the "Leicestershire Mutual Chess League"

It was agreed that the league be primarily aimed at three groups of players ; Social Players ; Junior Players and Lower Division League Players (Primarily those graded below 100).  It is hoped that the league would be a stepping stone between casual chess and serious league chess.

With that in mind, the format of the mutual league was agreed as

Teams of three players minimum (or more by mutual agreement for each fixture).

There are no eligibility criteria or grading limits, although teams are encouraged to follow the ethos of the league and select their players from the bottom, up.  Guest players (including those who have already played for other teams / clubs) are allowed and indeed encouraged to avoid defaults.

To aim for approx 8 fixtures per season in October - March.  Format will depend on entries (swiss, all play all, two divsions etc).

Each player has 1 hour on the clock for all their moves and play is to a finish

The entry fee is £10 per team for the season.  ECF game fee will not be paid, which means that games will only be graded by the ECF for players who are ECF members.  A local rating system will be established to produce a rating for non ECF members.

Teams will have names (eg Littlethorpe Tigers, Spinney Hill Sharks, etc) rather than numbers as differentiators.

Entries asap please to the League Secretary, Dave Ricketts Tel 0116 284 9104 or by email
